Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to join our Engineering team and lead complex projects for pork and packaged meat brands. You will guide cross-functional teams through planning, budgeting, and execution, ensuring on-time delivery and cost control.

The role demands strong leadership, deep project management expertise, and the ability to navigate regulatory and vendor considerations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; 8+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing and meat industry preferred.
Ability to apply engineering principles to operational and design issues.
Knowledge of project scheduling and construction.
PM skills and contract administration; knowledge of national codes and standards.

Responsibilities

Develops and executes the overall project to ensure success through budget, schedule, communication, and risk management.
Develops the overall budget to enable informed decision making and tight cost control.
Develops the schedule with engineering practices to ensure timely delivery.
Develops preliminary engineering designs to meet project needs while managing scope creep.
Leads multiple teams and provides direction and coaching to ensure successful project outcomes.
Maintains effective communication plans and proactive issue resolution.
