Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to apply engineering principles to design and develop complex projects for the pork and packaged meat industry. You will lead multiple teams, manage budgets, schedules, and scope while ensuring clear communication and proactive risk management.

Responsibilities include developing project plans, monitoring progress, and delivering results that meet safety and quality standards. Travel is required; relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
• Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing and the meat industry preferred.
• Must possess Project Management skills; Contract Administration skills; national codes and standards interpretation.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes the overall project plan with budget, schedule, risk management, and communication.
• Develops the budget to enable informed decision-making and tracks expenditures.
• Develops the schedule and monitors progress to ensure on-time delivery.
• Develops preliminary engineering designs and manages scope changes.
• Leads multiple teams and provides oversight and guidance for project success.
• Creates and executes communication plans to keep stakeholders informed.
• Continuously improves robotic and controls knowledge to enable innovative solutions.
