Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to design and drive high‑impact engineering projects for the meat industry. You will oversee multi‑team initiatives, manage budgets, schedules, and scope, and serve as a subject matter expert in project leadership.

The role requires strong communication, hands‑on governance of schedules, and a track record of delivering complex projects on time. Travel to sites may be required, with relocation assistance available where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 8+ years of experience or equivalent
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership experience
• Knowledge of engineering principles in food processing/meat industry preferred
• Ability to apply engineering principles to operational/design issues
• Experience with project scheduling and multi-million dollar projects
• PM skills, contract administration, and codes/standards interpretation
• Proficiency in engineering economics

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall project plan with budgets, schedules, and risk management
• Manage budgets and ensure cost control across sub-teams
• Develop and monitor realistic project schedules
• Define preliminary engineering designs and manage scope changes
• Lead multiple teams and provide oversight and guidance
• Create communication plans and proactively address potential issues
• Continuously improve robotic and controls knowledge through innovative solutions
