Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead large-scale engineering projects within the pork and packaged meat industry. You will design solutions, manage budgets, and coordinate with vendors and plant personnel to ensure on-time, within-spec performance.

Ideal candidates bring a engineering degree, 5+ years of experience, and proven leadership. This role requires travel around locations and offers relocation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination.
• At least 2+ years in a leadership role including team development and management.
• Apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of project scheduling for installation and construction.
• PM skills, contract administration, and knowledge of codes/standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical thinking.
• Willingness to travel 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering solutions, material specs, and cost estimates; assess feasibility and ensure codes and standards are met.
• Lead design implementation with vendors and contractors; maintain docs and vendor contacts.
• Prepare and review proposals; provide regular project status reports to management.
• Oversee contract administration; review bid packages and monitor installations for budget compliance.
• Drive people development and coaching to create a positive employee experience.
