Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead large-scale, technically complex projects within the pork and packaged meat industry. You will oversee design, development, and implementation, and may lead engineers directly or indirectly, driving proactive solutions and risk management.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, and 2+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
• 2+ years' leadership experience including team development and management, required.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
• Must possess Project Management and Contract Administration skills; knowledge of national codes and standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
• Energized by collaboration and travel to other locations (50% travel).

Responsibilities

• Design Work: develop engineering designs, material specs, and project cost estimates; conduct feasibility studies and economic analysis.
• Design Implementation: plan layouts with vendors, review consultant work, and maintain documentation.
• Reports and Proposals: plan and review during pre-project phases; prepare proposals; report project status.
• Bid Review and Project Preparation: manage contracts; prepare budget analyses, plans, and schedules; monitor installations.
• People Management: drive positive employee experience through leadership and coaching.
