Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Bethesda, MD seeks a Store Manager to direct operations at main Exchange branches and locations. You will coordinate activities, supervise staff, ensure compliance with directives, and drive sales and profits to meet program goals.

The role requires four years of progressive store management experience, strong leadership, merchandising, accounting, personnel and facilities maintenance know-how, and HR supervision.

Qualifications

• Three years of administrative, operational, merchandising, and management skills experience.
• 1 year of academic study above the high school level may substitute for 9 months of experience up to a 4-year degree for 3 years of general experience.
• Four years of progressively responsible store operational management experience with knowledge of merchandising, accounting, personnel, facility maintenance, distribution and general administration.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates all phases of Exchange activities and associates efforts toward program mission.
• Inspects activities and outlets, identifies deficiencies and directs corrective action.
• Ensures optimal use of facilities, equipment, cash and associates.
• Ensures compliance with directives and operating instructions for high performance and service.
• Reviews reports to achieve department goals; initiates corrective action when needed.
• Oversees staffing, leave, discipline and performance appraisals; manages training programs.
• Manages receipt, price marking, storage, custody and documentation for merchandise.
• Maintains equipment and facilities; develops and implements five-year capital plan when needed.
• Oversees Exchange Security, Safety, and Fire Protection/Prevention programs.
• Safeguards Exchange property and funds; participates in community activities.
• Leads sales promotion efforts to drive traffic and sales.
