BairesDev is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Storage) to design and implement core database engine components and ensure data integrity across distributed storage environments. You will bridge high-level database semantics with low-level performance in a fully remote setting.

The role emphasizes storage engines, MVCC, WAL, and query optimization, with a focus on high availability and scalable software systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on systems programming.
• Proven expertise in developing or modifying database engine internals, specifically storage engines and query optimizers.
• Deep understanding of low-level data structures such as B-trees and LSM-trees, including MVCC and WAL mechanics.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust for high-performance systems development.
• Strong background in concurrency control, memory management, and replication protocols.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize storage engines using advanced data structures like B-trees and LSM-trees.
• Implement robust concurrency control mechanisms including multi-version concurrency control (MVCC).
• Develop and maintain write-ahead logging (WAL) and replication protocols to ensure system durability.
• Enhance query optimization and execution performance for complex, large-scale datasets.
• Ensure the reliability and scalability of database internals through rigorous systems programming.
