Job summary

CTERA is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to support enterprise data storage and cloud solutions across North America. You will articulate technical value, design solutions, and deliver demonstrations to customers and partners.

The role requires strong storage, virtualization, and networking expertise, with up to 50% travel. You will collaborate with Sales Engineering and Customer Success teams to ensure successful deployments and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a Sales Engineer in the storage and/or cloud industries.
• Strong presentation and technical analysis skills.
• Up to 50% travel with some overnight stays.
• Storage experience – NAS, file systems, object storage. Protocols: CIFS/SMB, NFS.
• Cloud or virtualization experience – 2+ years in VMware or AWS/Azure Certified Solution Architect.
• Networking/Firewall experience – TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, LDAP, SAML v2; Wireshark.
• Operating systems – Windows and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
• Documentation experience to edit guides, sales presentations, network diagrams, and asset management.

Responsibilities

• Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Provide technical sales support throughout the sales cycle, including RFI/RFP responses, design, sizing, and more.
• Establish and maintain relationships with customers and partners.
• Resolve complex issues using professional concepts and company objectives.
• Deliver technical presentations explaining products and services to customers and prospects.
• Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical sales support.
• Conduct proof of concepts (POCs) with clear SOW and success criteria.
• Transfer knowledge to customers by delivering demos and hands-on training sessions.
• Document product feedback and requests for enhancements (RFEs) for Product Management.
• Submit orders by conferring with technical support staff.
