Job summary

Florida Office of the Attorney General is seeking a Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor – Special Counsel in Tampa. You will serve as an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor and Legal Adviser under a Bureau Chief, handling complex criminal cases.

The role requires a JD or LLB, Florida Bar admission, and at least five years of criminal trial experience, with preference for prosecution background. Include supervisory coordination and appellate support when needed.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws from an accredited law school and Florida Bar membership.
Five years of criminal trial experience required.
Preference will be given to applicants with prosecution experience.

Responsibilities

Special Counsel prosecutes in a designated area and acts as POC for cases.
Serve as SME for ASPs handling cases in their expertise area.
Review evidence and advise intake decisions for prosecution.
Assist investigations, review warrants, and prepare statements and orders.
Make charging decisions in consultation with the Bureau Chief.
Coordinate with divisions and other agencies for civil or administrative remedies.
Prepare and file charging instruments and coordinate surrender or arrest.
Represent the State at bond hearings and in discovery and pre-trial motions.
Represent the State at trial and post-trial proceedings; assist appellate matters.
Manage case documentation and data entry in the case tracking system.
