Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to set technical direction for our platform. You will own architecture for cross-org infrastructure initiatives, lead the Istio service mesh rollout, and drive multi-region resilience—while staying hands-on in critical code and infrastructure paths.

This role requires 12+ years in platform/infrastructure roles, deep Kubernetes/EKS and Terraform experience, and the ability to influence without authority.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles with cross-team ownership.
• Deep production-proven Kubernetes/EKS, Istio, and IaC at scale.
• Track record leading multi-quarter programs from architecture to execution.
• Experience debugging production incidents in distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java.
• Ability to influence across engineering orgs and mentor Staff engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own group-critical platform initiatives across cross-org programs.
• Define architectural patterns and platform primitives.
• Lead hands-on technical work including production incidents.
• Drive cross-org rollouts with resource coordination.
• Own testing infrastructure strategy end-to-end.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers.
• Reduce technical debt and cost through large-scale migrations.
