Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to set technical direction for our global platform. You will own architecture for cross-org initiatives, including Istio service mesh rollout and multi-region resilience, while staying hands-on in critical code paths and infrastructure.

You will define patterns that other engineers implement, mentor senior staff, and drive large-scale infrastructure migrations, with a focus on cost, risk, and performance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, with multi-team ownership.
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes/EKS, Istio, and IaC at scale.
• Led multi-quarter programs, including cost/risk analysis to secure leadership buy-in.
• Experience debugging production incidents in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own group-critical platform initiatives across multi-quarter programs.
• Set architectural direction and platform primitives for teams.
• Lead hands-on technical work, including debugging and hardening tooling.
• Coordinate cross-team rollouts and resolve blockers before they stall programs.
• Own testing infrastructure strategy end-to-end across environments.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers to raise engineering standards.
• Drive large-scale infrastructure consolidations and cost management.
• Define metrics to prove platform investments deliver business value.
