Job summary

ServiceNow, Inc. seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer (IC5) to lead the Data Platform Engineering organization. This hands-on technical lead will design and deliver shared, multi-tenant platform services — Postgres, queueing/streaming, and key-value stores — on Kubernetes for a large global fleet.

You will mentor engineers, define HA/DR architectures, and partner with product teams on SLOs and tenancy models while guiding reliability and operability across the platform.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience with a Bachelor's degree (or 8+ years with a Master's; or 5+ years with a PhD).
• 8+ years building production software, with solid experience operating distributed systems and running stateful workloads on Kubernetes at scale.
• Led design and delivery of at least one shared, multi-tenant infrastructure service used broadly by other teams.
• Strong Go programming skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of shared platform services running on Kubernetes and used across teams.
• Act as the technical lead on major initiatives with clear availability, durability, and cost targets.
• Define HA, failover, DR, and multi-region architecture and automation for your services.
• Partner with engineers and product teams to set consumption contracts, tenancy models, and SLOs for shared services.
• Identify technical risks early and drive reliability, scalability, and operability improvements.
• Spend significant time hands-on—designing, coding, and reviewing core systems like operators and controllers.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
