Altana seeks a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the AI behind Altana Nexus, orchestrating models and agentic workflows for real-time risk and compliance decisions in global trade. You will supervise ingestion, entity resolution, and inference at scale, shaping observability and feedback loops.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and shipping ML systems in production
• Experience with LLM-powered products and agentic workflows
• Proficiency in PyTorch and modern Python ML stack
• Hands-on production LLM apps: RAG, tool calling, structured outputs
• Experience with SFT, DPO, RLHF/RLAIF and reward modeling
• Strong evaluation practices: eval suites and golden datasets
• Judgment on model selection balancing cost, latency, accuracy
• Senior staff-level leadership setting architecture and roadmaps

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and roadmap for agentic systems processing trade data
• Lead the design of ingestion, document understanding, entity resolution, inference and routing
• Tune models using analyst feedback and production outcomes
• Build observability, evals, tracing and feedback loops for production readiness
• Mentor senior engineers and raise technical bar across Engineering
• Collaborate with product managers, customers and engineers to ship capabilities
