Altana seeks a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the AI behind Altana Nexus, driving agentic systems for global trade. You will own architecture, data ingestion, model routing, and real-time risk decisions in collaboration with product and customers.

You will mentor engineers, advance LLM-powered solutions, and shape multi-model workflows while delivering measurable outcomes across a scalable platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and shipping ML systems in production.
• Experience with LLM-powered products and agentic workflows.
• Strong Python and modern ML stack expertise.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and roadmap for agentic systems processing trade data in real time.
• Design reliable, cost-efficient ingestion, document understanding, entity resolution, inference and routing pipelines.
• Tune and post-train models (SFT, DPO, RL with domain graders) to beat prompts.
• Build evals, tracing, and feedback loops for production.
• Mentor engineers and shape ML talent hiring and leveling.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers and customers to deliver shipped capabilities.
