Reddit is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead the architectural overhaul of our post and comment composers across web and mobile. You will define the multi-year technical vision for content creation, with emphasis on modernizing composers and enabling new video creation and editing formats.

By removing client-side friction, empowering users with intelligent posting features, and defining performance standards, you will anchor the Contribution engineering efforts across Web, iOS, and Android

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering on consumer-facing mobile or web client applications.
• Expertise in modern web architecture (React, TypeScript) and native mobile paradigms (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin).
• Experience solving client-side performance bottlenecks and building interactive editors and real-time syncing systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence VP-level technical direction without direct management.
• Led large cross-functional engineering initiatives balancing technical excellence with growth targets.

Responsibilities

• Architect scale strategy to support video creation, editing, and uploading in the client layer across platforms.
• Build and scale new contribution formats within shared post and comment experiences.
• Mentor the Contribution engineering team and align Web, iOS, and Android platforms.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate prototyping, design, and coding.
• Lead high-performance client infrastructure with zero-latency rendering and offline editing.
