Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead the architectural overhaul of our post and comment composers across Web and mobile platforms. You will define the multi-year technical vision for how users create content, focusing on modernization and new contribution formats, including video creation and editing.

You will remove client-side friction, empower users with AI-assisted tooling, and set performance standards to accelerate global content contribution.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record as a Senior Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer on consumer-facing mobile or web client applications.
• Deep mastery of modern web architecture (React, TypeScript, state management) and native mobile paradigms (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin) to define unified client APIs.

Responsibilities

• Architect for scale: define and execute the client architecture strategy to support video creation, editing, and uploading within shared composers.
• Accelerate product roadmap: build and scale new contribution formats within core post/comment experiences and reduce barriers for content creation.
• Mentorship & org leadership: serve as technical anchor for Contribution engineering and align Web, iOS, and Android teams.
• Leverage modern tooling: apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping and system design.
• Optimize contribution funnel: design high-performance client infrastructure with resilient media pipelines and offline/online sync.
