Job summary

Reddit is seeking a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation of media creation tools. You will define the backend architecture powering how Redditors capture, edit, and publish engaging video and image content, tackling complex challenges to support a global media product strategy.

You will own backend infrastructure for media creation, build fast, maintainable APIs, and collaborate across product and design teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in large-scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development in Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift; API design skills.
• Experience with distributed caching and large-scale storage like Redis.
• Strong organization, prioritization, and communication in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, design, and engineering to build new features.
• Own backend infrastructure for media creation and APIs for frontend clients.
• Contribute to design, development, testing, experimentation, and launch cycles.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers and mentors on technical growth.
• Set standards to improve developer workflows and practices.
• Balance speed and quality to ship new products quickly.
