Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to define backend architecture for media creation and publishing. You will own backend infra and APIs, collaborating with product, design, and other engineers to deliver rapid, high-quality media experiences.

You’ll contribute across the full development cycle, mentor teammates, and help build asynchronous media processing pipelines in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS or equivalent
• 3+ years in large-scale distributed systems
• 5+ years of hands-on software development in a major language
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift
• Experience with Redis and distributed caching
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Define backend architecture for media creation and publishing
• Own backend infra and APIs to power frontend creators
• Contribute to full development cycle: design, test, launch
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers
• Mentor junior engineers and advocate best practices
• Move fast while balancing quality to ship novel products
• Build asynchronous media processing pipelines and microservices
