Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer for the Cortex Production Engineering organization. You will ensure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency of our large-scale cloud platform, working hands-on on complex systems while leading infrastructure and automation initiatives across multiple teams.

You will mentor engineers, design IaC and CI/CD processes, and partner with platform teams to improve production readiness and service architecture.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, Production Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or related areas.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production environments.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong experience with public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation like Python and GitOps.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery.
• Experience with observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Strong troubleshooting across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and distributed systems.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure for Cortex services.
• Lead DevOps, infrastructure, reliability, and automation initiatives from design to production.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across Kubernetes, cloud infra, networking, and storage.
• Improve platform reliability via monitoring, alerting, observability, and capacity management.
• Build automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce manual toil.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve production readiness and scalability.
• Lead incidents with root-cause analysis and corrective actions; drive improvements.
• Design and improve IaC, CI/CD, and GitOps deployments across teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
