Fivetran, based in Oakland, CA, is seeking a Senior Staff R&D Software Engineer to join our fast‑growing AI team. You’ll explore emerging AI techniques, prototype ideas, and ship production‑grade features across backend and frontend systems.

You’ll own technical direction, mentor engineers, and work across product, data platform, and go‑to‑market teams while building scalable data infrastructure and ensuring reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of programming experience across Python and/or Java.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross‑department decisions.
• Willingness to own direction in a startup‑like environment.
• Comfort reading AI/ML research and turning findings into prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Identify emerging AI techniques worth pursuing and set the roadmap for Fivetran AI.
• Prototype new ideas and ship production‑grade features.
• Define technical direction spanning multiple departments and resolve cross‑team tradeoffs.
• Build and maintain backend and frontend systems for the Fivetran AI product.
