Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Core Automation team to architect and build Agentic AI systems that automate customer support and compliance at scale.

You will lead the creation of a reusable platform of primitives and interfaces, collaborate with product, compliance, and operations, and drive production-grade AI solutions with a focus on grounding, reliability, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Proven track record shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI applications to production.
• Experience architecting distributed systems at massive scale.
• Experience partnering with compliance, operations, and customer support stakeholders.
• Track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's customer support and compliance automation.
• Architect a reusable platform of primitives, orchestration tools, and interfaces for other teams to adopt Agentic AI.
• Drive cross-functional alignment to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead the strategy for moving LLM-based applications from prototype to production with reliability at scale.
• Mentor engineers across the team on system design and AI/ML best practices.
