Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Westbrook, ME to maintain financial accuracy and GAAP compliance. You will monitor general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and generate detailed reports and analyses reflecting financial status.

Responsibilities include reconciliations, billings, disbursement requests, and analyses. Training or supervising staff may be available. A Bachelor’s in accounting/finance and CPA/CMA/CIA are preferred; strong Excel skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA, CIA or CMA designation preferred.
• Minimum of three years of related experience.
• Ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality; keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Summary:
The Senior Accountant role applies principles of accounting and statistical analysis in order to maintain control and accountability in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Monitors and maintains control of various general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries and detailed reports, prepares financial statements and analyses reflecting financial status and activities. May assist in training or supervising staff accounting personnel. Ensures timely accurate processing of account reconciliations, billings, disbursement requests and analyses of accounts in this area.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• License/Certifications: CPA, CIA or CMA designation preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of related experience.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate complex accounting principles.

The pay range for this position is $66,123.20to $89,481.60per year.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
