Job summary

Fingerprint, a remote-first company, seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own production reliability across the platform, writing code and infrastructure, and collaborating with product engineering teams to keep systems fast, available, and predictable at scale.

You will define SLIs/SLOs, improve alerting, lead incident response, and ensure secure, resilient cloud infrastructure with a focus on failure modes and safe deployment practices.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in SRE, production engineering, infrastructure, or backend engineering within primarily cloud-based environments (AWS preferred).
• A track record of owning a system end to end — designed, shipped, operated, and managed consequences when it misbehaved.
• Hands-on experience defining and operating against SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability of core production systems end to end—instrument, set targets, operate, and be accountable for behavior under real traffic.
• Define and maintain SLIs and SLOs, wire into dashboards and alerts, use error budgets as evidence for fixes.
• Drive alert quality: raise signal, kill noise, and close gaps where customers notice problems before monitoring does.
• Lead incident response: investigate across boundaries, restore service, and write postmortems with actionable follow-ups.
• Build secure, resilient infrastructure with attention to failure modes: timeouts, backpressure, and blast radius containment.
• Perform capacity and performance work with real data: load testing, profiling, headroom planning.
• Improve change safety: progressive delivery, automated rollback, pre-production signals, boring deployments.
• Manage infrastructure through code (Terraform) and configurations, aligning with service architecture.
• Design and ship developer-facing tooling to reduce toil and improve operational readiness.
