Job summary

Fearless Solutions seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering & Technical Services portfolio, supporting federal and state clients. You will design reliable cloud-native systems, define SLOs/SLIs, and guide teams toward best practices in reliability, security, and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on production experience designing and operating systems on at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (Python, Go, Bash).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, observability solutions for distributed systems.
• Demonstrated incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
• Strong networking, Linux, load balancing, DNS, and cloud security fundamentals.
• Experience in Agile delivery with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and track SLIs/SLOs and error budgets to align reliability with business priorities.
• Design and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop and manage IaC using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation for consistency and auditable environments.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
• Implement and maintain observability across metrics, logs, and traces (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.).
• Lead incident response, on-call practices, and blameless postmortems for continuous improvement.
• Manage containerized workloads on Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE) or similar platforms.
• Automate operational tasks with Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages to reduce toil.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and load testing for high-traffic public services.
• Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies and test regularly.
• Collaborate with security/compliance teams for DevSecOps and ATO efforts.
• Engage development teams early to influence architecture for reliability and operability.
• Create and maintain runbooks, diagrams, procedures, and reliability standards.
• Mentor engineers, review changes, and promote a culture of reliability and operational excellence.
