Job summary
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - SRE to scale Grafana Cloud databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope) across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You will own production reliability for high-SLA environments and partner with product engineering squads to deliver reliable services.
This remote role requires 8+ years in engineering, 4+ in SRE/production engineering, Kubernetes proficiency, and leadership experience.
Qualifications
- 8+ years engineering experience, 4+ in SRE/production engineering
- Strong Kubernetes experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet)
- Strong experience with technical leadership and mentoring
- Experience operating multi-tenant production systems
- Experience designing and implementing SLOs
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Java)
- Excellent problem-solving and on-call incident handling skills
Responsibilities
- Own production reliability for high-SLA environments
- Partner with product engineering squads
- Design and implement automation to scale reliability practices
- Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models
- Lead incident response and post-incident reviews
- Improve alert quality and reduce noisy escalations
- Contribute to design docs and code reviews
- Collaborate to influence product design for scalability
