Job summary

Freenome is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability to build and operate observability, reliability, and incident management across our cloud-based production environments. As a founding member of the SRE team, you will define SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, and automation to ensure compliant, scalable systems in a regulated context.

Remote role reporting to the Director, Cloud Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years in software engineering or Infra/DevOps/SRE roles, Python or Go preferred
• Hands-on experience operating production workloads in cloud environments
• Familiarity with Kubernetes (AKS, GKE, or EKS)
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in distributed systems
• Experience with observability platforms (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Ability to define and implement metrics, dashboards, and alerting
• Autonomous and able to own technical outcomes
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking architectures

Responsibilities

• Define and implement observability practices (metrics, traces, dashboards, logs, alerts) for production systems
• Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and escalation procedures
• Define SLIs/SLOs and establish error budgets with engineering teams
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive automation and self-healing
• Contribute to production deployment and change-management processes in regulated environments
• Automate operational tasks to reduce manual work
• Contribute to production systems and designs to improve reliability
• Use IaC to manage and deploy infrastructure
• Build and evolve the SRE practice and collaborate with cross-functional teams
