Job summary

Contact Government Services (CGS) seeks a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server, including replication, backups and performance tuning. The role involves migration of databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016 and supporting virtualization environments such as VMware and Hyper‑V.

Based in Detroit, MI, this full‑time position also covers basic systems admin tasks, cloud considerations with AWS/Azure, and collaboration across project teams to deliver secure,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SQL Server DBA experience.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Experience with source/control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational DB integration.
• Ability to handle confidential/sensitive materials.
• Comfort working in groups and independently on projects.
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including replication, backup/restore, capacity planning, SSRS/SSAS/SSIS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide basic systems administration: planning, installation, configurations of hardware/software.
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions.
• Implement, deploy, and support Microsoft technologies (Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services).
• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper‑V; create/configure VMs.
• Back up web, application, and database servers per MPA policies; perform daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Monitor databases, manage space, and provide extended hours support when required.
