Job summary

Contact Government Services (CGS) seeks a Senior Database Administrator to administer all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies in a demanding environment. The role includes migration of databases between SQL Server versions, managing backups, and tuning performance.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and a background in SDLC, source control, and data integration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration
• Experience with VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies
• Experience with source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and integration of Relational Databases
• Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive materials
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and processes

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, capacity planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016
• Provide systems administration support for new hardware and software installations/configurations
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions
• Implement and support Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and Web Services
• Support VMware and Hyper-V visualization technologies by creating and configuring virtual machines
• Perform backups of web, application, and database servers per MPA policies (daily incremental, weekly full)
• Monitor, space-manage, and support database activities; provide extended hours as needed
