Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Senior Database Administrator to oversee all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server. The role includes migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016 and supporting virtualization environments such as VMware and Hyper-V.

The position is full-time in Arlington, VA, with IT department oversight and opportunities for professional growth. Strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of SQL Server database administration experience.
• Experience migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Ability to work both in team environments and independently.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, capacity planning, SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for hardware and software installations and configurations.
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement and support Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and Web Services.
• Support VMware and Hyper-V virtualization, create and configure virtual machines.
• Perform backups per MPA policies, including daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Monitor space and provide database support, with extended hours when required.
