Job summary

SMBC seeks a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator in Charlotte, NC to lead enterprise SQL Server environments across on-premises, Azure, and AWS. The role emphasizes HA/DR, security, and automation using PowerShell and modern cloud services.

The candidate will support trading, front/middle/back-office workloads with 10+ years of hands-on experience and a strong focus on monitoring, reporting, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on SQL Server administration in enterprise environments.
• Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Proficiency with Windows-based VMs, patching, and upgrades.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, AWS RDS/EC2 SQL Server.
• Scripting: PowerShell for automation and reporting.
• Experience building Power BI dashboards and operational reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert administration for SQL Server 2019/2022/2025 across on-prem, Azure, and AWS.
• Manage backups, failover testing, and DR planning for mission-critical databases.
• Design and implement HA/DR using Always On and other replication tech.
• Automate routine tasks with PowerShell and Ansible.
• Develop Power BI dashboards for DB health, capacity, and performance metrics.
