Job summary

Blue Origin in Reston, VA seeks a Training Lead for In-Space Systems to design, develop, and execute mission-support training for flight ops and engineering staff. You will oversee hands-on exercises, rehearsals, and simulator use across multiple vehicle programs, ensuring safe, reliable mission support.

The role requires a BS (or equivalent) in engineering or education, plus 5 years of space/military training experience. Occasional travel (<10/year) and flexible hours are expected; MS is a plus.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, education, or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience developing/executing training for mission-support operators/engineers in space-oriented/military/government environment.
• Strong facilitation and communication; experience writing training materials (objectives, plans, evaluations).
• Ability to travel to support training activities; typically <10 per year.
• Ability to support varied work hours; off-hours or shifts may be required; on-call support possible.
• Self-starter with strong coordination; can manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Proven track record working with multi-disciplinary teams and building relationships.
• Must be a US citizen or national, US permanent resident or eligible for asylum/residency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute training for ops controllers, engineering support, AI&T, launch services operators, and payload customers for all In-Space System vehicles.
• Lead specific training areas or initiatives under senior staff guidance.
• Collaborate with engineers, ground software, flight control operators, and payload teams to ensure relevant training for mission support.
• Run simulators and training assets for hands-on events, practice, and rehearsals.
• Define requirements and support development of future training simulators, interfaces, and assets.
• Evaluate console operator proficiency and currency; develop ad hoc/contingency training.
• Maintain accurate records of operator training completion.
