Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces from concept through spaceflight. You will mentor engineers, perform architecture trades, and ensure robust, manufacturable designs for launch.

The role requires hands-on experience with composites, CNC, GD&T, and environmental testing, and collaboration with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 9 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design across programs.
• 5+ years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with flight missions and full mechanical development cycles.
• Familiarity with structural and thermal analysis review processes.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, and Nastran.
• Experience with structural/thermal analysis reviews for manufacturability.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Ansys, and Nastran for design validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for mechanical aspects of CesiumAstro spacecraft and subsystems through all development phases.
• Direct architecture trades, block diagrams, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
• Present design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present design reviews to customers and exec team; contribute to proposals.
