Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead a team responsible for mechanical design of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces throughout development. You will guide CAD, thermal architecture, deployable structures, and environmental qualification, while mentoring engineers toward robust, manufacturable space hardware.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in spacecraft mechanical design from concept to decommissioning across multiple programs.
• Experience leading technical teams for 5+ years.
• Proven contributions to multiple flight missions and ownership of full mechanical development cycles.
• Ability to define clear mechanical interfaces and cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers on mechanical aspects of CesiumAstro spacecraft.
• Direct architecture trades, block diagrams, analysis, and manufacturing for spaceflight hardware.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present design reviews to customers and executive team; contribute to proposals.
