Umbra, a leader in space technology, seeks a senior systems engineering leader to drive technical excellence within Mission Solutions. You will oversee engineering teams, guide staffing and performance reviews, and ensure rigorous technical quality across proposals and programs.

Based on-site in Arlington, VA or Reston, VA, you will apply agile practices, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and support career development while maintaining security compliance and schedule discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field.
• 8+ years in systems engineering with 3+ years direct personnel management.
• 3+ years in space mission systems engineering and leading engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Establish & maintain systems engineering technical excellence within Mission Solutions.
• Lead and support the systems engineering group through the full program lifecycle.
• Contribute and review proposals for accuracy in technical content.
• Manage staffing, performance reviews, and career development for engineers.
• Collaborate on headcount planning and high-quality project execution.
• Use agile practices to support sprint planning and progress tracking.
