Job summary

Umbra seeks a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the Mission Solutions Systems Engineering group. This role oversees engineers who architect, design, build, test, and operate advanced satellite and space mission technology.

You will mentor, manage performance, and plan workforce needs while guiding teams across concept to delivery. Based on-site in Arlington, VA or Reston, VA, you’ll partner with program management and technical leadership to ensure alignment, technical quality, and schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field required.
• 8+ years in systems engineering or related field with 3+ years in people management.
• Experience leading engineering teams and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain systems engineering excellence within Mission Solutions.
• Lead, support, and develop the systems engineering group through full program lifecycles.
• Collaborate with program management and technical leadership to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
