Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to own the DVDB design for the spacecraft power bus. You will drive requirements, circuit design, qualification, and production release at constellation scale, balancing reliability with cost and manufacturability.

You will work with systems engineering, thermal, structures, and avionics teams to define interfaces, test plans, and documentation, ensuring Flight-Critical performance and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; 7+ years hands-on electronics hardware development experience.
  • Design experience with power distribution architectures incl. SSPCs, relay switching, overcurrent protection, fault isolation; space/high-reliability experience.
  • Multi-voltage/dual-bus power systems above 50V with load management and sequencing.
  • Hardware qualification campaigns per MIL-STD-1540, SMC-S-016, ECSS-E-ST-10-03; test plan development and anomaly resolution.
  • Radiation-tolerant/hardened design practices and TID analysis in space environments.
  • U.S. citizenship/national/PR or compliant status required for export-controlled data access.

Responsibilities

  • Lead circuit design for the Dual Voltage Distribution Box (DVDB) including SSPCs, relays, protection, and fault isolation.
  • Define load switch sequencing, shedding logic, and fault response with Fault Management and C&DH teams.
  • Own DVDB telemetry architecture and health monitoring interfaces.
  • Derive DVDB hardware requirements, ICDs, and design specs with systems engineering.
  • Participate in FMEA/FMECA and drive single-point failure elimination.
  • Optimize DVDB for high-rate manufacturing with common components and DFM/DFT.
  • Define and transition Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for rate manufacturing.
  • Develop hardware qualification plans per MIL-STD-1540, lead anomaly investigations.
  • Serve as technical authority for DVDB during vehicle integration and flight tests.
  • Maintain complete DVDB design package in PLM.
