Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Electrical Power Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and verification of electrical power subsystems for satellite payloads on the TeraWave program. You will develop flight-qualified power electronics hardware with a focus on efficiency, mass, and thermal performance, reporting to the TeraWave Avionics Senior Manager.

The role requires 5+ years in power electronics, space hardware experience, and proficiency in ISS/NASA standards, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in electrical power electronics design.
• Experience designing isolated DC-DC power converters at the 1 kW / 120 VDC level or higher.
• Direct experience designing power electronics for satellite/space hardware applications.
• Proficiency in performing and documenting the full suite of required power electronics analyses, including WCA, derating, stability, power dissipation, transient response, reliability, DFMEA, DFT, DFM, and EMI/C.
• Familiarity with NASA EEE-INST-002 standards and spaceflight requirements.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status for federal work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and qualification of isolated DC-DC power conversion systems up to 1 kW in the 120 VDC range.
• Design sub-1V, high-current POL converters with tight regulation for digital payloads and FPGAs.
• Develop and maintain power system architectures including filtering, sequencing, fault protection, and distribution for satellite use.
• Execute full design verification analyses: WCA, derating, stability, thermal and EMI analyses, etc.
• Lead design reviews and present results to peers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, thermal, systems, optics, and RF teams; support hardware bring-up and qualification.
