Blue Origin’s Spacecraft Bus Avionics team seeks an experienced engineer to drive requirements, design, analysis, test, and reviews of ruggedized avionics hardware for space applications. You will lead end-to-end development of flight hardware, integrate complex components, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring performance in harsh environments and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

B.S. degree in electrical engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronic components or similar high-performance / high-reliability hardware.
End-to-end product development for a space-rated component.
Experience designing hardware for radiation environments.
Experience in integrating complex optoelectronic and electromechanical components.
Strong experience in digital design including FPGAs, CMOS sensors, and DDR memory.
Select and qualify EEE parts for space environments.
PCB design, FPGA integration, and EMI/EMC mitigation strategies for flight hardware.
Experience with Altium Designer, multi-lamination stack-ups, impedance controlled nets, and complex design constraints.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end product development for a space-rated component.
Provide leadership as a member of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission-critical avionics.
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to incorporate PCB interconnect systems, signal integrity and power integrity analyses.
Lead design trade studies.
Design avionics solutions for performance and high reliability in harsh environments.
Create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews.
Create and deliver presentations, proposals, and training material on technical subjects.
Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds.
Validate requirements through design, test, analysis, and inspection.
Support Production and Quality Engineering as needed, including dispositioning material defects.
Manage revisions of the product design configurations through the product lifecycle.
Mentor and train junior engineers.
Review and approve designs and documentation created by other team members.
