Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Power Engineer to design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics hardware from component level to integrated system. You will prototype in the lab, build harnesses, and verify performance across power, sensors, and interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of avionics and power hardware development for aerospace or high-reliability applications.
  • Hands-on engineer with experience wiring harnesses and prototype electronics.
  • Understanding of circuit analyses (Worst Case, Derating, Power, Timing).
  • Experience designing for space radiation environment and effects on components.
  • Experience with sensor interfaces (analog and digital).
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium/Cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics systems.
  • Lead the design and analysis of vehicle power systems, including power generation, energy storage, regulation, and distribution architectures.
  • Perform hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware, including wiring harnesses and rapid prototyping.
  • Design for the space environment with radiation hardening to ensure reliability.
  • Define and manage requirements for sensors and electrical interfaces (IMUs, star trackers, magnetometers, etc.).
  • Collaborate with mechanical and thermal teams to influence layout and packaging.
  • Develop schematics, manage PCB layout, and perform simulations for critical circuits.
  • Create test plans and reports for hardware verification and validation.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues across integrated systems and support vehicle-level testing and launch campaigns.
  • Maintain electrical power budgets by mission phase.
