Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Sr Avionics Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics hardware from the component level to the integrated system. You will lead power subsystem design, perform hands-on fabrication, and test harnesses for rapid prototyping.

You will ensure space-grade reliability through radiation-hardening practices, manage sensor interfaces, and collaborate with mechanical and thermal teams to optimize layout and connector

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of avionics/power hardware development experience in high-reliability sectors.
  • Hands-on experience wiring harnesses and prototype electronics.
  • Understanding of common circuit analyses and radiation effects on electronics.
  • Experience with sensor interfaces (IMUs, star trackers, magnetometers, etc.).
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools like Altium/Cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics hardware from component to integrated system.
  • Lead power system design: generation, storage, regulation, and distribution architectures.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test hardware, including wire harnesses and integrated sensors.
  • Design for space environment and radiation hardness; select components for radiation requirements.
  • Define and manage sensor interfaces and electrical connections (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Collaborate with mechanical/thermal teams on layout, packaging, and connectors.
