Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead pre-sales engagements for the Data Intelligence Platform. You will work with customers to design architectures, run proofs of concept, and guide adoption across cloud services.

This is a customer-facing role within the Financial Services team, reporting to a Field Engineering Manager, with travel to client sites as needed. You should have 7+ years in pre-sales/consulting, strong data systems design skills, and hands-on experience with cloud

Qualifications

• 7+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales role or consulting role with big-data tech.
• Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems.
• Comfortable programming in Python, SQL, Scala, Java, or R.
• Experience with global system integrators, consulting firms, or financial services tech.
• Experience building solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Data Engineering tech (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
• Experience with Data Warehousing tech (SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS).
• Undergraduate degree or higher in engineering or mathematics (CS, Applied Math, EE, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Partner with sales to map Databricks to customer problems.
• Provide technical leadership for adoption of Databricks by customers.
• Design architectures and run proofs of concept for strategic projects.
• Create reference architectures, how-tos, and showcase applications.
• Promote open-source projects (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog) to developers.
• Travel to meet customers in your territory.
