Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will qualify opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and collaborate with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams to advance projects from concept to design.

The role requires 2–500 MW PV/BESS experience, travel up to 15%, and proficiency with major modeling tools.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools and packages (PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing accuracy and feasibility of third-party estimates.
Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition conceptual to 30% design studies.
Development of technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
