Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will assess opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities for renewable energy procurement.

The role focuses on preliminary design evaluation and coordination with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams, with project sizes from 2MW to 500MW.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with PV modeling tools (PVSYST, Helioscope) and CAD (AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities and third-party data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
• Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
