Job summary

AES Corporation, a leader in renewable energy, seeks a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage projects across the US and internationally, expanding our owner-operated portfolio.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate opportunities, conduct due diligence, and respond to RFPs, coordinating with Business Development, Execution and Finance to advance projects from concept to design.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools and packages (PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new opportunities, assessing third-party estimates and data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition conceptual design to 30%.
