Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role in the Veterans Affairs domain. Candidates must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python, and experience with both manual and automated testing within Agile/Scrum environments.

The position requires a Public Trust (MBI) clearance, 10+ years of software testing experience, and a W2 US-based employment. Salary range is $85,389 to $116,975. This is a full-time, remote opportunity with national scope.

Qualifications

• Must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing; familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficient in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans; aware of CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks; experience with CI/CD tools and version control.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools, defect tracking, and SQL for data validation.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and security testing practices.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; strong problem solving and communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures to meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans and schedules; define testing approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for scenarios.
• Review test cases/scripts with managers and leads.
• Perform and lead tests for IT systems to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results and issues; support root-cause analysis.
• Create daily test metrics and reports; provide guidance to junior testers.
• Contribute to other IT system engineering tasks as needed; apply technical principles.
