Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote US-based role. The candidate must have strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python) and an extensive background in both manual and automated testing.

Responsibilities include creating and executing detailed test plans, scripts, and data, plus coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software deliverables.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with Git and Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of database/SQL for validating data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure systems meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans and schedules; write test cases and scripts; identify data for scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Leads, and Developers.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software.
• Verify results using defined methods and environments; document results.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
