Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% US-based remote role. The position requires strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python), extensive testing experience, and a track record on complex software projects.

You will lead test efforts, design test plans and scripts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across web/API systems. Applicants should have 10+ years IT/testing experience, be eligible for a Public Trust clearance, and

Qualifications

Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
Proven track record on complex software projects with quality deliverables.
Experience in both manual and automated testing.
Familiar with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
Knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with Git/Subversion.
Understanding of performance testing (JMeter, Gatling).
Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
Knowledge of SQL for data validation.
Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
Understanding of security testing practices/tools.
Experience with various test types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication/collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Attention to detail; delivering high-quality work.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to mentor junior testers.
Translate business requirements into test scenarios.
Experience with test management tools.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards.
Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
Write test cases/scripts and identify data for scenarios.
Review test cases/scripts with stakeholders.
Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
Verify work products using defined methods and environments.
Document and communicate test results.
Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
Document and address complex problems.
Report progress on resolutions to management.
Improve current procedures and model future configurations.
Create daily test metrics and reports.
Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
Apply technical principles and concepts in the field.
Set objectives and goals; provide direction to team.
Measure objective attainment.
Provide technical solutions to difficult problems.
Ensure solutions are imaginative, thorough, and aligned with objectives.
Independently determine approaches to solutions.
Review completed work for objective alignment.
Demonstrate good judgment in methods/techniques.
Contribute to completion of programs/projects.
Frequent inter-organizational / customer contacts.
Represent organization in solving technical issues on projects.
