Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role based in the United States. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills (C#, .Net, Java, Python) and a proven track record in both manual and automated testing within Agile environments.

A US Public Trust (MBI) clearance is required. Responsibilities include developing test plans, executing tests, logging results, and driving defect resolution.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high quality.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
• Proficient in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools: Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.
• Familiar with Git and Subversion; performance testing tools like JMeter/Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA/Bugzilla) and APIs/DB testing.
• Understanding of security testing practices and risk-based testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Develop test schedules and testing approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and prepare test data.
• Conduct test case walkthroughs with stakeholders.
• Perform and lead tests on software/IT systems for defects.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environment.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Analyze results and resolve open issues.
• Resolve complex problems and report progress to management.
• Improve procedures and model future configurations.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Perform other IT system engineering tasks as needed.
