Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) seeks a Manager, Software Engineering: Java in Chicago to lead a skilled engineering team building and refining core components for the Ovation Risk Platform. You will direct design decisions, performance reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.

Expect hands-on architecture work, real-time data streaming with Kafka/Flink, and integrations of AI/ML with PostgreSQL. Hybrid work up to 2 days/week, strong compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus 3 years in senior software/manager roles.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale, fault-tolerant streaming architectures.
• Domain knowledge of options exchange operations and clearing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diversely skilled team of engineers and provide senior-level people management.
• Lead architecture design, reviews, and alignment with business goals.
• Drive real-time data ingestion and processing using Kafka/Flink.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects.
• Create target-state architecture roadmaps and transition plans.
• Act as technical product owner for requirements and architecture.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into enterprise-grade systems and optimize PostgreSQL design.
