Job summary

Waystar in Louisville, KY seeks a Sr. Software Engineer Manager to lead a high performing team of software engineers and QA professionals. You will own delivery, quality, and growth of your team while partnering with product and technology leadership to build award-winning solutions for clients.

You will be a hands-on technical leader, less focused on management fluff and more on strategic vision, architectural guidance, and delivering scalable software in a fast-paced healthcare payments domain.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of .NET and SQL Server experience
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams and technology projects
• Experience with unit testing, automated test frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and embrace change
• Strong self motivation and ability to work in teams or solo
• Experience building highly scalable software solutions
• Subject Matter Expertise in at least one technical track
• Proven ability to lead and retain a team of 10+ engineers
• Ability to plan multi-year programs with cross functional teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Leads day to day delivery and operations for the engineering team ensuring quality
• Conducts People Operations responsibilities including performance reviews
• Plans and manages project timelines, resources, and cross-team dependencies
• Motivates and develops team members through feedback and mentoring
• Coaches engineers on technical and professional growth
• Partners with Product Owners to define priorities and roadmaps
• Collaborates with peer engineering managers to uphold quality standards
• Guides architectural decisions and engineering trade-offs
• Drives continuous improvement of engineering processes
• Identifies and curates learning opportunities for team members
• Provides direction to Lead Engineers to mentor juniors
• Performs other duties as assigned
